XR DREAMLAND

XR DREAMLAND is a large-scale virtual reality exhibition that was launched by the Kaohsiung Film Archive in 2019. It was initially a VR segment curated and presented as part of the Kaohsiung Film Festival in 2017. Currently, it is the only XR film exhibition in Taiwan and the largest XR film festival and industry event in Asia.

The Kaohsiung Film Festival launched the Kaohsiung VR FILM LAB project in 2017, screening original VR content produced in Kaohsiung. In 2018, a VR sensory theater was established at Pier-2 Art Center, and an international VR competition was held, inviting virtual reality creators from around the world to participate. After the establishment of XR DREAMLAND in 2019, the platform has been actively promoting the XR industry through various initiatives, such as showcasing original Taiwanese works, organizing competitions, and hosting industry events like forums, workshops, and filmmaker networking sessions. It has become the most significant annual event for the XR industry in Taiwan.

This year, XR DREAMLAND brings together over 30 pioneering XR works that represent the future of the industry. Highlighted are global trends, including multi-player interactive experiences and the influence of French fashion. For the first time, Taiwan's original VR creations, along with the Kaohsiung VR FILM LAB initiative, have collaborated with the Ministry of Culture's X LAB Cultural Black Tide project to present the latest virtual-reality masterpieces created in Taiwan. The international competition segment features the most cutting-edge XR works from around the globe.
